We welcome discussion with couples thinking of getting married. Do contact the Rector as soon as you are ready to do so. Even if you only have a general enquiry we'd be glad to discuss it, and advise you if it is possible to be married in our church.
In addition to the Book of Common Prayer Marriage service, the service of "Witnessing and Blessing of a Lifelong Covenant" is also available for use. This was specifically prepared by the Episcopal Church for use with same-sex couples. It has been used at Christ Episcopal Christ and the Rector is happy to discuss using it with same-sex couples in the future.
We normally meet in the church office to discuss arrangements, fix the date and time, complete the application form, arrange for the calling of banns, and answer any questions. We would also make arrangements for meetings to discuss the meaning of Christian marriage as appropriate.Another meeting is usually held with the organist playing for the service, to discuss hymns and other music for your marriage service.
A few days before the wedding we hold a rehearsal, when we walk and talk our way through the entire service with all those taking part.
